Olsson’s photos are an extension of the work of earlier photographers who have also recorded the Paris of their times in black and white photographs. Frenchman Eugène Atget photographed Paris around 1900. Dutch photographers such as Nico Jesse, Ed van der Elsken and Johan van der Keuken knew how to catch Paris’ spirit during the fifties and sixties of the 20th century in their photos.

Atget’s work can be seen in the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam until early January 2012. The Hague Museum of Photography also exhibits the work of Dutch photographers who went to Paris between 1900 and 1968 in ‘Gare du Nord’.
